13/09/12, 18:00, Naxos } Yes, the time has finally arrived; I get to blog, outside, wearing a giant scarf, looking at the deep colors of the sky, drinking my coffee, just as I always have pictured the perfect ambiance for the imaginary artist in my head… I have all those cliché images from films and books-about the romantic wanderer that enjoys the autumn chill, looking for inspiration-that is so funny, actually, to be here now trying to write a story out of it.
14/09/12, 12:35, Donoussa } A few hours later, the ferry takes me to Donoussa island; I disembark and I wait on the small port with some other passengers and with the local people that came to take us to our rooms: in a few minutes, we are all friends… As we walk on the sandy beach that unites the port with the part of the island where I’ m staying, I see the white island houses reflecting on the water surface. Everything is quiet and peaceful; I have never seen so many stars on the sky.
14/09/12, 09:15, Donoussa } I stand on a small balcony that overlooks the port. No words to describe this beautiful, beautiful island. I have fallen in love with this place.
14/09/12, 20:00, Donoussa } The bells of the Timios Stavros church start ringing: the island is celebrating today and around the old church that is decorated with colorful flags and palm leaves, many people gather. Just a few meters away, while the sun is disappearing behind the sea, some others prepare the food for the feast that is about to follow…
We eat the delicious and still hot patatato, right on the street, gazing at the people passing by. There are people here that have come from Naxos, Koufonissia, Folegandros, Paros, Schinoussa, Iraklia; we are all part of a big neighborhood: the fishing boats and the passenger ferries bring us close, for both joyful and sad occasions.
Now, everyone is heading to the port. Another Aegean panigiri is starting, and the magical violin of Mr. Oikonomidis is calling us…
