A “panigiri” for Aghias Marinas nameday
Today we are in Arethoussa, a beautiful traditional village almost hidden by the trees.
The weather is hot all over Greece, but we still enjoy the light breeze that comes from the mountain as well as the shadow at my uncle’s yard.
It is a special day for the village: it is the nameday of the saint that protects Arethoussa and everybody here is participating to festivities that will peak tonight, at the village plaza: another one of the island’s famous panigiria; there will be dancing, live folk music and pure red local wine and goat meat.
The energy here is unique. Such anticipation for tonight! The people of the village are working hard, to prepare everything for the hundreds of visitors that will come from all over the island for the feast.
We will share with you more about this unique experience soon…
