Today, I had my first real summer day. A real summer day is a day you are fully tuned with everything summery; knowing that you are. The carefreeness and the heat are basic ingredients to a real summer day, the sea and the salt are optional but they do make all the difference in the world, especially when you enjoy them with good friends.
The first real summer day is never the first day of the holidays, it’s not even the first really hot day of the season: It’s the day when it hits you, that you are in the core of everything you value as summer spirit; you feel uplifted -just like the moment you realize you’re in love.
Having spent the first two months of the summer feeling worried and all sorts of other blue feelings -like many people I know- I thought I was untouched by outgoing, joyful summer moods. But island life has a magical way of healing; the wind just erases all thoughts and worries and the sea hugs shy swimmers giving them the baptism of a fresh start.
I guess summer means different things to different people. Nevertheless, there is common ground in letting go, and there is common ground in the moment you realize that you have reset.
We would like to thank Mania Ampatzi; the photos of this post were taken during a Paros experiences photoshoot for Poseidon of Paros.
